K-State Opens Spring Football Practice

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- On-field preparations for the 2015 football season kick off Wednesday as Kansas State will hit the field for the first of 14 practices leading up to the Purple/White Spring Game on Saturday, April 25, at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas.

Beginning today, K-State will practice each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with the exception of a Thursday practice on April 23, prior to the team traveling to Kansas City for the spring game. The Wildcats are able to take advantage of using the award-winning Sporting Park after receiving a one-time waiver from the NCAA due to player and fan safety at Bill Snyder Family Stadium as construction continues on the new Vanier Football Complex.

The Wildcats, who return 46 letterwinners and 12 starters -- including seven that earned All-Big 12 honors last season -- are looking to build off a 9-4 campaign in 2014 that ended with their third top-20 finish in the last four years. Highlighting the list of returners are Honorable Mention All-American place kicker Matthew McCrane, First Team All-Big 12 fullback Glenn Gronkowski, a pair of second team all-conference defensive backs in Dante Barnett and Danzel McDaniel, and a second team all-conference offensive lineman in Cody Whitehair.

Head coach Bill Snyder, a member of the 2015 induction class of the College Football Hall of Fame, begins his 24th year at the helm of the Wildcats. Snyder holds a 187-94-1 record at K-State, including a 109-70-1 mark in Big 8/12 Conference games. Snyder's coaching staff remains the same for a third-straight year, making K-State one of only five schools nationally to have the same 10 full-time coaches on staff since 2013.

All non-premium public reserved and general admission seats for the Purple/White Spring Game have been sold, but three ticket options remain available. Standing-room only tickets are on sale for $10 to the public, $5 for groups of 20 or more and $5 for K-State students. Also open is the Bud Light Landing in the southwest corner of the stadium priced at $75 per ticket, and the Field Club in the lower level of the west side priced at $150-$175 per ticket. Both of those premium options include food and drink service.

Approximately 6,000 complimentary parking spaces are available and located at several lots in The KC Legends area, including Kansas Speedway and CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Lots will open at 12 p.m., and tailgating is permitted with the exception of the Nebraska Furniture Mart and Cabela's (Lot D) lots.

The Wildcats open their 2015 home schedule on Saturday, September 5, against South Dakota. The remaining six home games feature five opponents that advanced to bowl games in 2014, including a pair of top-10 teams in TCU (No. 3/3) and Baylor (No. 7/8), which are two of five Big 12 opponents to visit Bill Snyder Family Stadium this year.

The priority deadline for season-ticket purchases is Friday, April 24. A limited number of single-game tickets go on sale online only on June 22, while fans can purchase by calling the ticket office beginning June 24. All seven home games are anticipated to sell out quickly and extend the Bill Snyder Family Stadium sellout streak to 27 games.
