MANHATTAN, Kan. – Coming off a 10-3 season, a berth in the AT&T Cotton Bowl and several months of offseason conditioning work, the Kansas State football team will hit the practice field for the first time this spring Wednesday with the first of 14 workouts leading up to the April 28 Purple/White game.

The Wildcats return 44 lettermen from last year’s 10-3 squad and will look to continue to make daily improvement under 2011 Big 12 and National Coach of the Year Bill Snyder, who is in his 21st season overall at Kansas State.

Last year, K-State became the lone Big 12 school and one of just five across the nation to have its football team in a bowl game and win games in the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball tournaments.

Kansas State returns 14 starters, eight on offense and six on defense, in 2012 while also returning its kicker, punter and long snapper. The Wildcats will be led by senior quarterback Collin Klein and linebacker Arthur Brown, both All-America candidates, while the squad also welcomes back 2011 Walter Camp All-Americans Tyler Lockett and Nigel Malone. In all, K-State returns 10 players from 2011 that earned midseason or postseason All-Big 12 honors from various media outlets.

Tickets for the spring game are priced at $5 while K-State students and children under the age of two will be admitted at no charge. To purchase tickets, visit k-statesports.com or call the K-State Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800-221-CATS. Both ticket booths at the stadium will also be open on gameday beginning at 10 a.m., while gates will open at 12 p.m.

Students will need to present their student ID’s at the East side ticket booth at Bill Snyder Family Stadium and enter the stadium through Gate M.

K-State opens the 2012 season September 1 with a home game against Missouri State. Season tickets for the seven-game home schedule remain available. For more information regarding tickets, contact the K-State Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800-221-CATS or visit www.k-statesports.com.
