Spring Game Fan Fest is Here

MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State athletics and the Wildcat football program will host the third annual Spring Game Fan Fest Weekend Saturday with a full day of activities leading up to the spring game at 6:30 p.m.

 

A number of activities for fans of all ages are planned around the centerpiece of the weekend the 2008 Spring Game on Saturday, April 19, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

 

In addition to the game, which will kick off at 6:30 p.m., K-State’s third annual Spring Game Fan Fest Weekend will once again include a carnival and midway, which was upgraded for 2008, a children’s fun zone and a state-level barbeque competition.

 

The weekend’s events get underway on Thursday, April 17, with the Ottaway Carnival in the East parking lot of Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The carnival will be open from 6 p.m. 10 p.m. on Thursday.

 

A pair of K-State spring traditions, the 24th annual editions of the Powercat Golf Tournament and the Kansas State athletics department’s Powercat Auction, will take place on Friday. The golf tournament will tee off at 10 a.m. at Colbert Hills, while doors for the auction will open at 5:30 p.m. at Bramlage Coliseum.

 

The Ottaway Carnival opens Friday at 3 p.m. and runs until midnight.

 

Saturday’s full slate of festivities begins with the KSU Wildcat BBQ contest, in Cat Town at 7 a.m., with competition taking place in both the professional and tailgate categories. The judging for the BBQ contest will begin at 12:30 p.m. Willie’s Fun Zone will also be open for fans in the football indoor from 3 p.m. 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The carnival and midway opens at 12 p.m. on Saturday and will run until 5:30 p.m. before resuming after the spring game from 8 p.m. until midnight.

 

Regular ticket prices for the carnival, which will apply to all fans on Thursday and Friday, range from $3 for a single ticket, $20 for a family pack of 10 tickets, $55 for a super saver pack of 30 tickets and $20 each for wristbands. The carnival prices on Saturday for those with a spring game football ticket will be reduced to $2 for a single ticket, $10 for a family pack of 10 tickets, $30 for a super saver pack of 30 tickets and $10 each for wristbands.

 

Tickets for K-State’s 2008 Spring Game are priced at $5 for all fans, while a complimentary ticket is also included with the purchase of a 2008 season ticket. Parking for the event is free.

 

Following the game, players and coaches will cap the day-long celebration on the field with a one-hour autograph session for the fans.
