KMCI-TV, “38 the Spot” is an Emmy award winning television station, which has quickly emerged as the hot “Spot” for young, upscale Kansas City viewers.  Initially focused on family oriented shows and classic programming, the station airs a multitude of sports programming including a portion of the Kansas City Royals’ baseball games, Big 12 basketball and coaches specials.  In July 2003, KMCI launched its new digital transmitting facility, making it Kansas City’s most powerful television station.  KMCI operates as a duopoly with Scripps-owned NBC affiliate KSHB-TV.
