MANHATTAN, Kan. – Just four weeks before the season opener against Eastern Kentucky on September 3, the Kansas State football program began preparations for its 116th season of football and the 20th under head coach Bill Snyder on Wednesday as players reported to the Vanier Football Complex.

The 2011 Wildcats will be led on the field by team captains Clyde Aufner, Arthur Brown, Tysyn Hartman, Alex Hrebec, Collin Klein and Emmanuel Lamur.

Coming off an appearance in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, K-State returns 30 letterwinners and 15 starters from last year’s team. Additionally, nine other Wildcats that logged at least one start in 2010 are also back.

The Wildcats will hold their annual media day on Friday, while K-State’s Fall Football Kickoff is set for Saturday, August 20. Coach Snyder and selected players will address fans at approximately 6 p.m. with a one-hour autograph session to follow on the new AstroTurf GameDay Grass 3D60 playing surface. Complete details for K-State’s Fall Football Kickoff will be announced at a later date.

Kansas State kicks off the 2011 season at 6:10 p.m., on September 3, with the third annual K-State Family Reunion against the Colonels.
