Aug. 4, 2010

MANHATTAN, Kan. – With the season opener against UCLA just four weeks away, the Kansas State football program began preparations for its 115th season of football and the 19th under head coach Bill Snyder on Wednesday as players reported to the Vanier Football Complex.

The Wildcats will be led in 2010 by captains Carson Coffman, Tysyn Hartman, Alex Hrebec, Zach Kendall, Collin Klein and Emmanuel Lamur while also welcoming back 2009 Big 12 rushing leader and preseason All-American Daniel Thomas at running back.

Kansas State, selected to finish third in the 2010 Big 12 North race, returns 40 lettermen and 15 total starters from last season’s 6-6 team that was one win shy of advancing to the Big 12 Championship game.

K-State will hold its annual media day on Friday, while fan appreciation day is set for Saturday, August 21. Gates will open at 5 p.m. for fan appreciation day as those in attendance will be able to watch the final hour of practice. Coach Snyder and selected players will then address fans at approximately 6 p.m. with an autograph session to follow.

The Wildcats open the 2010 season September 4 with the second annual K-State Family Reunion against the Bruins of the Pac-10 Conference. Less than 4,000 tickets remain for the 2:30 p.m. nationally-televised contest, so fans are encouraged to act now and reserve their place in Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

Fans can call the ticket office at 1-800-221-CATS, visit the new and improved k-statesports.com or stop by the ticket office in Bramlage Coliseum to purchase tickets to the opener for as little as $35 or season tickets for all six exciting home contests. A copy of the 2010 ticket brochure, which includes all ticket prices and options, is also available online.
