K-State Football Media Day Press Conference

Freshman Quarterback Daniel Sams
On his contribution to the team…
“I think I’ll be able to make big plays for the team, whether I’m playing at receiver, or quarterback…anytime the ball is in my hands, I plan to make something happen.”

On playing different positions…
“Coming in I thought I’d be at receiver, because of size, and I wouldn’t mind playing at the receiver spot, but you never know what will happen. So far, I’ve only been practicing the quarterback position.”

Sophomore Running Back Robert Rose
On standing out from the other RB’s…
“In order for a back to separate themselves, they have to do exactly that. All of us have talent, but what it’s going to take is perseverance. With this pro-style offense, you have to know things, like how to block out of the backfield, etc.”

On personal goals this season…
“I read that I was the smallest running back in the Big 12 and if that’s the case, I want to show that I can still break tackles and catch down the field. With proper coaching, I feel that I’m becoming an all-around back.”

On his role models…
“I think I probably know about every running back there is, and some of my favorites happen to be some of the smaller backs, like Emmitt Smith. He had heart and a way of playing the game that made you forget about their size. Little guys can block, too!”

Junior Wide Receiver Chris Harper
On Collin Klein…
“He’s an accurate thrower. He has a lot of confidence in himself. He didn’t really get to show that, but it’s not about what other people on the outside think, because we know and have seen what he can do.”

On recent training…
“I don’t know if there is too much that anyone focuses on, because we work on everything from speed, to catching and running to get better. If we just focus on one thing, everything else will fall off.”

On expectations of the team…
“The expectation is to just be as good as we can be. I think we can go out there and win every game, and that’s exactly what we’re going to try to do.”

Sophomore Wide Receiver Tramaine Thompson
On coming off an injury…
“I’ve been rehabbing and getting everything back right, and getting my confidence back.”

On expectations for the season…
“We have higher expectations than last year because we want to be the best, so that’s what we’re going to try to work to be.”

On last season’s bowl game…
“I didn’t get to play last year, though I was cleared. I did suit up just in case though. I’m ready to play again so that I can get to play in the bowl game atmosphere.”

Junior Quarterback Collin Klein
On beginning camp…
“The first two days have been great so far. We have a long way to go, but we have a lot of time to develop and get as good as we possibly can, and we’ll go from there.”

On the potential of the offense…
“At this point we’re just trying to get better. I know our coaches will take good care of us as far as fine tuning and executing on the field in the fall, but again, we’re getting closer. We have a lot of guys working, and at this point we’re trying to continue that improvement so that when September 3rd comes around, we’re ready to go.”

On accomplishments…
“We’re not going to put any limits on what we can accomplish, nor are we putting limits on ourselves for that matter. At this stage, it’s all about trying to get as good as we possibly can.”

Junior Quarterback Justin Tuggle
On the transition from junior college…
“It’s not too big of a difference, everything is just focused on football, and that’s a good thing, because everything is just a routine. Being at Boston College really helped me see how things happen.”

On Collin Klein…
“There’s no rivalry at all. We compete on the field, but off the field we’re friends, and we try to help each other out. Everything is good blood between us though. We just want to put the best team on the field for everyone to see and that’s what we’re working towards every day.”

On transferring…
“I didn’t come here to sit on the bench, nor did I come here to play behind anybody so I come out here and work every day to be the starting quarterback. That’s the goal, and that’s what I’m striving towards.”
