Cats No. 22 in Playboy Preseason Top 25

MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State was one of six Big 12 football programs ranked among the top 25 teams in America heading into the 2008 season as the Wildcats checked in at No. 22 in Playboy magazine’s annual preseason college football rankings.

The Wildcats, who were ranked in the Top 25 on two occasions a year ago after wins over Texas and Colorado, return 38 lettermen from last season, possess much-improved depth and experience at every position and have three legitimate national awards candidates in quarterback Josh Freeman, defensive end Ian Campbell and place kicker Brooks Rossman.

Oklahoma topped the magazine’s preseason rankings, while Missouri (fourth), Kansas (10th), Texas Tech (11th) and Texas (13th) were also among the top 25 heading into the 2008 campaign.

Kansas State, which is in the midst of fall training camp, opens the 2008 campaign August 30 as North Texas visits Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:05 p.m.
