MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State senior center Wade Weibert was named to the watch list for the 2010 Rimington Trophy, which honors the most outstanding center in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the award's committee has announced.

Weibert, who is the first Wildcat to be up for the award since Jordan Bedore in 2008, is coming off a season in which he started all 12 games, including 11 at center. He helped the K-State rushing attack gain 179.9 yards per game in 2009, which was the third most in the Big 12 last season.

A native of Hillsboro, Kan., Weibert redshirted the 2008 season after helping Butler Community College to the 2007 NJCAA National Football Championship and a perfect 12-0 record. For his efforts, he was named a First Team All-Jayhawk Conference, All-Region VI and NJCAA All-American pick.

The Wildcats open the 2010 season next Saturday, September 4, with a nationally-televised matchup against UCLA on ABC. Fewer than 1,200 seats remain available for the contest as K-State looks to sell out the Second Annual K-State Family Reunion, which will also serve as Harley Day at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
