Postgame Quotes - Missouri State

Sept. 11, 2010

Head Coach Terry Allen

On his thoughts towards his team's effort...

"I was really proud of them especially offensively. Cody (Kirby) showed his maturity on that long drive. It hurt us early when we lost Derek Miller. He was only able to play a series, but hopefully he will be back in two weeks with that injury."

On K-State and Daniel Thomas...

"They are a good football team. I thought we did a good job against him (Daniel Thomas). He is a good back but I thought we did a nice job in the first half defensively. They (K-State) were 1-of-6 on third down in the first half. So I think we did a good job considering they were 4-of-5 against UCLA."

On his quarterback play...

"Cody (Kirby) is a good kid. He is our playmaker and we plan on him making plays for us the rest of the year."

Quarterback Cody Kirby

On what happened in the first half...

"I don't want to say we were off because I felt like we were focused. I think it is just one of those things you have to find your rhythm and we just did not find it as quickly as we would have liked."

On K-State scoring following them in the first half...

"I think we can only worry about our job. There are just more little things we have to focus on."

On their performance compared to three years ago...

"I feel like we were a lot better mentality and we played a lot closer then the scoreboard indicated. I want to give credit to these coaches and teammates we have got a great group of guys."

Wide Receiver Jermaine Safford

On what he feels his role is...

"I just keep working with Cody (Kirby) getting confidence in each other and I just do my best to catch everything I can."

On becoming a better route runner...

"I think I'm getting better I stay after practice and run routes to make sure they are crisp, I ask Cody (Kirby) if they look good and to see if they need to be fixed so we can be on the same page."

On their confidence after today's game...

"We have a bye week next week so we just got to work hard during practice so we can go into the next game play hard and expect to win."

Offensive Tackle Justin Aumen

On the game atmosphere...

"It was a really good game. It was a really great experience, and I am glad that the game was packed. It is probably the only game we will experience with 50,000 fans."

On playing at a big school.

"Coming from a small town, and you are one of the biggest kids in the high school, you are guaranteed to start. You get to college, the upper level like Missouri State, you do not always get that much playing time. You have to sit out a couple of years and then you get your chance."

On friendship with Ty Zimmerman...

"We did not really get a chance to talk. I am sure we will talk later tonight on the phone.  I will tell him good game, like I told him out on the field, and I hope he is doing well. I am really happy for him that he is doing this well and getting to start tonight."

Defensive End Levi Moore

On the defense ...

"On the defensive side of the ball I feel we played well but clearly we missed some responsibilities and chances we should not have."

On half time tonight versus two years ago...

"It didn't feel the same at all, it felt like we really had a chance on defense to make some stops and on the offense to take it out and make something happen. I think we did a good job of playing hard until the end of it but we missed some key opportunities."
