Kansas State Ranked 24th in AP Poll

MANHATTAN, Kan. Following a 41-21 win at then-No. 7 Texas, Kansas State cracked the AP Top 25, checking in at No. 24 in the poll on Sunday. K-State received 214 points from the pollsters, just four points shy of No. 23 Purdue.

Kansas State made the jump from receiving no votes in the poll last week to No. 24 after its first ever win on the road against a top-10 team, going 0-46 before the win in Austin. The Longhorns fell from No. 7 to No. 19 in the poll.

The showing in the AP Top 25 is the first time the Wildcats have been ranked under head coach Ron Prince and the first since Sept. 5, 2004, when K-State was 13th.

Other Big 12 teams in the AP Top 25 are No. 10 Oklahoma, No. 17 Missouri, No. 19 Texas and No. 25 Nebraska.

The Wildcats are also receiving 33 votes in the USA Today/Coaches Poll, which is good enough for No. 31 in the poll and is the first time they have received votes in the poll since August 3, 2007.

Kansas State will renew its in-state rivalry with Kansas on Saturday, Oct. 6 in Manhattan. Kickoff for the 105th Sunflower Showdown is set for 11 a.m. on FSN.
