K-State History Detailed in Football Vault

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Whitman Publishing of Atlanta, Ga., is set to debut in bookstores and online the Kansas State University Football Vault, a publication about the history of K-State football written by long-time beat reporter Kevin Haskin.

As much a scrapbook as it is a history book, opening the Kansas State University Football Vault®: The History Of The Wildcats is like getting a tour through your own personal K-State football museum.

Haskin has covered Kansas State sports since serving as the editor of the Kansas State Collegian in the early 1980s. In this book, Haskin mixes great game coverage with behind-the-scenes anecdotes and personal stories to present a view of Wildcat football that you won't find anywhere else.

"This in-depth look at the history of Kansas State football touches on all the great names and games, from the first organized game in school history to the present and everywhere in between," says legendary coach Bill Snyder, who shares his own thoughts on the K-State program in the book's foreword.

Not only are all the great stories here, but you will also find replicas of unique K-State memorabilia. Explore the book's dozens of sleeves and pockets to get your hands on a 1916 letter urging students to help with repair work on the football field, a 1921 photo of the team's first live wildcat mascot, a 1950s pennant, brochures from Wildcat football camps in the '60s and '70s, tickets from the 2003 Big 12 championship game and much more.

"This book relives the many wonderful memories from the earliest days of the Kansas State football program right up to the present," says All-American linebacker Gary Spani in the book's afterword. "I hope you all will feel the same enjoyment and great 'Midwest Pride' that I do as you look back at the rich history of Kansas State football!"
