Brown Named Quarterfinalist for Lott IMPACT Trophy

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State linebacker Arthur Brown is one of 20 defensive players nationally to be named a quarterfinalist for the 2012 Lott IMPACT Trophy, the organization announced Tuesday. The recognition is the third of the week for Brown, who was named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award and the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

In his second season in Manhattan, Brown leads the Wildcats with 55 tackles, including six for loss and one sack. The Wichita, Kan., product also holds the distinction of being the defender to break the non-interception streaks of Heisman Trophy Winner Robert Griffin III (110 attempts) last season and West Virginia's Geno Smith last week. Prior to Brown's pick, Smith broke an NCAA record of 273 attempts without an interception.

The Lott IMPACT Trophy was established by The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation to honor college football's Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year. The trophy is named after Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott and honors the student-athlete who best exemplifies the acronym for IMPACT - Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

No. 3 Kansas State returns home to host 14th-ranked Texas Tech Saturday in a sold-out contest at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The game, which kicks off at 2:30 p.m., is featured as FOX's College Football Game of the Week. The game can also be heard on the K-State Sports Network as well as SIRIUS Satellite Radio channel 85 and XM channel 85. Additionally, a live pregame show - K-State Gameday - will begin at 1:30 p.m., on K-StateHD.TV. The show is hosted by Brian Smoller and 2012 College Football Hall of Fame inductee Mark Simoneau.
