LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Kansas State men's golf team sits in a tie for ninth place after carding a two-round total of 12-over 572 Monday in the 2014 Del Walker Intercollegiate at the par-70, 6,582-yard Virginia Country Club.
"Today was perfect playing conditions but the course was a little soggy with all the rain that they have had here, so it did play a little longer than it usually does," said head coach Tim Norris. "The theme was the same today as it has been all spring; we had three good scores and our fourth was a 75. That took us out of the middle of the pack and down closer to the bottom."

Kyle Weldon fired an 4-under 136 to lead the Wildcats during Monday's opening rounds and will enter Tuesday's final round tied for fourth place.

Weldon carded a 3-under 67 during the first round and followed that up with a second-round 1-under 69.

Daniel Wood recorded a first-round 4-over 74 and a even-par 70 to finish Monday's play tied for 31st place.

Seth Smith finished Monday's first two rounds also tied for 31st place at 4-over 144, while Connor Knabe is currently tied for 50th after carding a two-round total of 8-over 148.

Alex Carney will enter Tuesday's final round in a 64th place and Tyler Norris, who is competing as an individual, is currently in 61st place.

On the team side, Cal State Fullerton ended Monday's action atop the team leaderboard at 7-under 553. The Titans were led by overall individual leader Mark Anguiano who fired at 8-under 132 over the first two rounds.

Final-round play from the 2014 Del Walker Intercollegiate will get underway with an 8 a.m., (PST) start.
