Ida Injury Hurts Wildcats
GOODYEAR, Ariz. - After a strong start to the Desert Shootout, the Kansas State men's golf team slipped to ninth place after carding a 7-over par 295 in the second round.
The Wildcats were dealt a heavy blow when senior Joe Ida, who entered the day tied for fourth, pulled out of the tournament with a thumb injury after only playing four holes. Ida will not participate in Saturday's final round.
"That is huge blow to the guys when they see one of their horses on the cart with his clubs in the back, but they responded well," said head coach Tim Norris. "We are in a real dog fight because we are only six shots out of fifth place. This will be a great opportunity for our guys to step up tomorrow."
