Klaudt Advances to Round of 16 in Kansas Amateur

MISSION HILLS, Kan. – Kansas State men’s golfer David Klaudt moved to the Round of 16 in the 2013 Kansas Amateur after knocking off 21st-seeded Don Wadsworth at the par-70, 6,501-yard Indian Hills Country Club on Friday. Fellow Wildcat golfers Connor Knabe, Hank Simpson and Kyle Weldon saw their run through the match play portion of the event end on Friday morning.

Fifth-seeded Knabe, was upset by the 37th-seeded Sam Stevens of Wichita, Kan., 1-up. No. 54 seed Simpson was downed by the No. 22 seed, Mark Terranova, 4 and 3. Weldon, who entered Friday’s round as the second-seeded golfer in match play, was upset by the No. 31 seed, John Lovell, 3 and 2.

Match play from the 2013 Kansas Amateur Championship will continue on Saturday afternoon beginning at 12:45 p.m., and will run the entirety of the weekend with the finals scheduled for Sunday morning. Match-play pairings and results will be available at kansasgolf.org, while recaps and results will be available at kstatesports.com at the conclusion of each day’s action.
