Wildcats in Seventh Heading into Final Round

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - The Kansas State men's golf team started the season today in Zionsville, Ind., at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate. The Wildcats ended the day in seventh place after carding a 17-over par 586 at the par 71, 7,195 yard Wolf Run Golf Club.

"This is a very tough and demanding course," said head coach Tim Norris. "It was a matter of feet today between great shots and bad results. The guys did really well though. Joe Kinney had a 2-under par round which completed a solid two round day for him. The other guys got a good idea of how the course plays so tomorrow we have a good shot at getting four quality scores. For our first outing we had a pretty solid start."

Senior Mitchell Gregson carded a 2-under par 140 and is in sixth place heading into tomorrow's final round. Joe Kinney fired a second round score of 2-under par 69 and is in fifth place.

"This is Joe's (Kinney) final year here and he has the mindset that he can make a big difference for us," said head coach Tim Norris. "He played really solid golf this summer. He has taken a leadership role and this could be a great season for him this year."

Freshman Chase Chamberlin carded a 159 in his first tournament as a Wildcat. Senior Joe Ida shot a 155 and Ross Geubelle fired a 152 in today's rounds.
