STOCKTON, Calif. - The Kansas State men's golf team closed out the fall season with a ninth-place finish in the 2013 Pacific Invitation at the par-71, 6,511-yard Stockton Golf and Country Club on Saturday. The Wildcats carded a 9-under 855 over the duration of the event and were led by senior Daniel Wood, who tied for 11th place.

"We were just lacking a couple of shots per player and that really added up," said head coach Tim Norris. "We needed to play all 18 holes and we were not as resilient as I thought we would be this week as far as bouncing back.

"It was a disappointing way end to the fall but I saw some positives and we just have to dwell on those and focus on getting rested up and ready for the spring."

Wood fired a 4-under 209, which included a pair of 2-under 69s, to card his third top-20 finish of the year. Alex Carney closed out his successful fall season by tying for 25th place at 1-over 214.

Kyle Weldon tallied a 6-over 213 to tie for 41st place while David Klaudt and Connor Knabe rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats as the duo tied for 46th place.

BYU led the event wire to wire and took home the team title after finishing at 26-under 826, five shots ahead of second-place finisher Santa Clara. Cougar golfer Joe Parkinson finished atop the individual leaderboard as he carded a 13-under 200.

K-State will have a three-month break before beginning the 2014 spring season, February 10-11, in the 2014 UTSA Oak Hills Invitational at the Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.
