MANHATTAN, KAN. – The Kansas State men's golf team will travel to Houston, Texas, to compete in the Rice Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday, February 20 and 21, at the Westwood Golf Club, a par 72, 7,184-yard course. This will be the second tournament of the spring for the Wildcats following last week’s UTSA Oak Hills Invitational. The event will tee off on Monday at 8:00 a.m., with a 36-hole shotgun start. Tuesday's final round will tee off from No. 1 and No. 10 at 8:00 a.m.

K-State will use the scoring lineup of junior Curtis Yonke, senior Kyle Smell, freshman Kyle Weldon, sophomore Tyler Norris and sophomore David Klaudt. This will be the first time this season that the Wildcats will use this scoring lineup. Norris and Klaudt competed as individuals during the fall at the Jim Colbert Invitational and the Shocker Classic
, and this will be the first time this season they are included in a scoring lineup. Smell and Weldon will each be competing in their ninth event, while Yonke will see action in his eighth tournament this season.

At the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational, the team posted a 14th-place finish. The Wildcats were led by Yonke and Smell
as Yonke shot a combined 9-over par 222 to tie for 37th, while Smell carded a combined 10-over par 223 to tie for 42nd. Weldon was able to bring his total score to 15-over par 228 and tied for 59th.

K-State will be the only Big 12 team competing in the Rice Intercollegiate. The entire 16-team field includes host school Rice, along with Air Force, Florida Gulf Coast, Houston Baptist, Houston, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Missouri State, Northwestern, New Mexico State, Texas State, UTSA, Wichita State and Winthrop.

This will be the first time K-State has competed in the Rice Intercollegiate since 2003. The Wildcats were led by junior Aaron Watkins and freshman Ben Kern
that season as both carded a 10-over par 226 to tie for 22nd place. That year, the team finished in sixth place, posting a total 40-over par 904.
