K-State Travels to Lafayette for Louisiana Classics

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State will continue its spring slate in the 2015 Louisiana Classics, Monday-Tuesday, March 2-3, at the par-72, 7,098-yard Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette, Louisiana. The trip south will be the second of six events for the Wildcats this season.

"We are excited to be going down to Lafayette to play in the Louisiana Classics," said head coach Grant Robbins. "It is one of my favorite tournaments as the community really supports the event, and they provide a very unique experience for the players."

In addition to K-State, the field for Louisiana Classic will consist of No.1 Illinois, Illinois State, Kansas, Kent State, Louisiana, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Northwestern, South Alabama, Southeastern, Southern Miss, Texas State and UTSA.

The event will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday, with an 8 a.m. (CT) shotgun start to begin play each day.

The scoring lineup will remain the same for the Wildcats in Lafayette, as K-State will send Matt Green, Trent Evans, Connor Knabe, Seth Smith and Hank Simpson.

Smith is coming off of a solid performance in the Wyoming Desert Invitational, when he carded a 3-under par 213 to finish tied for fifth place, leading the Wildcats to a fourth-place finish. Green finished just three strokes behind Smith firing an even-par 216 and tying for eighth.

"We have some confidence coming off of last week, but we just have to stay committed to the process and stay focused on the things we can control, such as preparation and attitude," said Robbins. "Our goal is to compete as hard as we can and keep improving."
