Cats Head to Oregon for Duck Invitational

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Following a two-week hiatus, the Kansas State men's golf team will return to competition Monday and Tuesday, March 23-24, for the Duck Invitational at the par-72, 7,020-yard Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon. The tournament will consist of 36 holes Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday with play beginning at 8:30 a.m. (PT) each day.

"We are looking forward to getting back out on the West Coast and competing in this event," head coach Grant Robbins said. "The field is very strong, and from everything I've heard, Eugene Country Club is a fabulous course. I know the guys are excited for the challenge."

The Wildcats will continue the spring season with the same scoring lineup as the first three tournaments with Seth Smith, Matt Green, Connor Knabe, Trent Evans and Hank Simpson making the trip. The squad previously tied in fifth place at the Tiger Invitational.

Green is coming off of a solid finish two weeks ago where he posted a 4-under par 212 to tie for seventh. Smith is also looking to continue his momentum this spring after a top-20 finish at even-par 216 at the Tiger Invitational.

Joining K-State at the Duck Invitational are host school Oregon, Arizona State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Nevada, Oregon State, Pacific, San Diego, San Diego State, San Jose State, UC Riverside, Utah and Washington.

This is the first time K-State will compete in the Duck Invitational, an event that began in 1989. Oregon has won eight of the 25 events, including three of the last five. Oklahoma State is the only Big 12 school to win the Duck Invitational when the Cowboys did so in 2011.

Live scoring from Oregon can be found at while updates from the 2015 Duck Invitational will be available at as soon as they are made available following each day of competition.
