Wildcats Bound for Lonestar Showdown

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State men's golf team travels to Austin, Texas to compete in the Morris Williams Intercollegiate, Monday, April 5 thru Tuesday, April 6. The event tees off Monday with a 36-hole shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. (CST). On Tuesday, the tournament will tee off from the No. 1 and 10 tees and begin at 8 a.m. (CST). An awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of the final round.

LOOK AT THE FIELD: The 15-team field will be the toughest of the season for the Wildcats. There are six teams ranked in the top-25: No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 5 Texas, No. 16 TCU and No. 21 Texas Tech. Also competing are Arkansas, Baylor, LSU, New Mexico, Pepperdine, SMU, Tulsa and UT San Antonio.

LAST TIME OUT: Kansas State, which was second after the first day at the Desert Shootout fell to ninth after day two and dropped two more spots after a final-round score of 12-over par 300. The Wildcats finished the tournament 11th at 10-over par 874, three shots shy of a ninth-place tie between Iowa State and Boise State.

MORRIS WILLIAMS INTERCOLLEGIATE: The University of Texas hosts the 44th annual Morris Williams Intercollegiate. The tournament is held annually in memory of former University of Texas golf star Morris Williams, Jr., who died in a plane crash while serving in the Air Force in 1953.

HOST - UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS GOLF COURSE: Texas will host the 15-team field at the University of Texas Golf Course. The 18-hole layout covers 7,412 yards and is a par 71 course.
