Wildcats Travel to Missouri

UP NEXT:  The 62nd-ranked Kansas State men’s golf team travels to Columbia, Mo., to compete in the Missouri Tiger Intercollegiate, Monday, April 13, through Tuesday, April 14. The event will tee off Monday with a 36-hole shotgun start beginning at  8:00 A.M. (CST) The final round will be a shotgun start beginning at 8:00 A.M. (CST) on Tuesday, April 14, with an awards ceremony at approximately 2:00 P.M. (CST) following the final round.


LOOK AT THE FIELD: The 14 team field includes Big 12 foes Missouri and Iowa State as well as Missouri State, Northern Iowa, SMU, Wyoming, New Orleans, Liberty, UT-San Antonio, Xavier, Eastern Illinois, and IUPUI. Kansas State is the second highest ranked team in the field behind No. 50 UT- San Antonio.


LAST TIME OUT:  The Kansas State men’s golf team rebounded from a tough first round to come from behind and win the title of the Shocker Classic. After carding a 24-over par 308 at the 6,814 yard Wichita Country Club, the Wildcats combined for a 3-under par 281 final round score. Their final round score was the only team score under par for the entire tournament. 


2008 TIGER INTERCOLLEGIATE: The Kansas State Wildcats shot the lowest score in the final round and tied a school-record for most top-five finishes in a season with a second place finish at the Missouri Tiger Intercollegiate on April, 7-8.  Indiana won the inaugural event.                                                                                       


RECORD SETTING: With the Wildcats win last week at the Shocker Classic the team has now won three events this season. The last team to win three events in a single season was the 1986-87 team.


HOST THE CLUB AT OLDHAWTHORNE: The University of Missouri will host the 14-team field at The Club at Old Hawthorne. Opened in the spring of 2007, the 18-hole layout spans 6,204 yards and is a par 72 course.
