K-State Off to Hawkeye Intercollegiate

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- The Kansas State men's golf team will continue its spring slate in the 2015 Hawkeye Invitational, Saturday-Sunday, April 18-19, at the par-72, 7,239-yard Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa. The tournament will be the Wildcats' final tune before heading into the Big 12 Championship.

"We look forward to playing at Iowa this weekend," said head coach Grant Robbins. "I have heard great things about the course, and it is a very competitive field. Hopefully we can get some positive momentum going at this time of year where we need to be playing our best golf."

In addition to the Wildcats, the field consists of the host school, Iowa, accompanied by Denver, DePaul, Iowa State, Kansas, Marquette, Minnesota, Nebraska, Washington State and Wichita State.

The 54-hole event will begin at 9 a.m., on Saturday with a shotgun start to the first 36 holes followed by the final round on Sunday morning.

K-State's scoring lineup will remain the same in Iowa City, as K-State will send Matt Green, Trent Evans, Connor Knabe, Seth Smith and Hank Simpson.

The Wildcats will look to improve after their 11th place finish at the Gary Koch Invitational last week. Green is coming off of a 32nd place finish in that event after carding a 5-over par 221. Smith and Knabe tied for 36th after tallying a 7-over par 223.
