Wildcats Head to Big 12 Men's Golf Championship

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- The Kansas State men's golf team will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, Monday-Wednesday, to compete in the 2015 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship at the Southern Hills Country Club.

"We are excited to get to Southern Hills for the Big 12 Championship," said head coach Grant Robbins. "It will be a great experience for our young guys to compete on a major championship golf course against some of the country's elite teams."

K-State is the No. 9 seed for the event and will be paired with seventh-seeded Iowa State and No. 8-seed Kansas on Monday. Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma are the top three seeds, respectively, while Baylor is the fourth seed, Oklahoma State is No. 5 and TCU is No. 6. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes on both Tuesday and Wednesday with an 8 a.m., start each day.

The scoring lineup will remain the same for the Wildcats in Tulsa as K-State will send Matt Green, Trent Evans, Connor Knabe, Seth Smith and Hank Simpson.

Green is coming off a solid performance in the Hawkeye Intercollegiate when he carded a 6-over par 222 to finish 36th. Looking to use momentum from the Hawkeye Intercollegiate, Simpson was solid on the final day of the event as he carded an even-par 72.

Texas took home the Big 12 team title the past two years while TCU's Julien Brun took home the individual title last year. K-State finished ninth last season with then-senior Daniel Wood tying for seventh individually.

"We just have to have a good game plan, focus on playing the course and stay committed to process of playing one shot at a time," said Robbins.
