MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State senior men's golfer Daniel Wood was one of 14 student-athletes named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 Men's At-Large First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. By being named to the first team, Wood advances to the Capital One Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second- and third-team honorees will be selected later this month.

Wood, who holds a cumulative 3.92 GPA and is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration, is the first Wildcat to be named an academic all-district performer since Matt Van Cleave in 2005. The Leander, Texas, product is the only Big 12 men's golfer named to this year's academic all-district team and the lone men's golfer in the conference over the last two years to earn a 4.0 GPA en route to First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors.

On the course, Wood has led K-State during the 2013-14 season with a 72.38 stroke average and six top-20 finishes on his way to a NCAA Regional berth. Wood is currently competing in the NCAA Columbia Regional and can advance to the NCAA Championship if he is the top individual not on an advancing team.

Wood's all-district accolade adds to a long list of academic honors during his Wildcat career as he is a three-time First Team Academic All-Big 12 honoree, was named a Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA)/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar and helped K-State earn GCAA All-Academic team honors in both 2011-12 and 2012-13.
