Future Wildcat Wins Second State Title

MANHATTAN, Kan. Incoming Kansas State freshman Curtis Yonke fired a 3-under par 68 to win his second consecutive Kansas 6A state golf tournament.

Yonke, was the only golfer in the field to shoot under par at the Shawnee Country Club. Yonke’s bogey free round Yonke led Blue Valley West to a second place finish.

“It was fun to leave this way,” said Yonke. “It just proves that I’m a competitor and that I can do it back to back, its not just one of those one time things.”

Yonke finished four strokes ahead of Washburn Rural’s Brax Ball and Blue Valley North’s Harry Higgs. Ball beat Higgs in a playoff to claim second place.
