Yonke Brothers Claim Four-Ball Title

LAWRENCE, Kan. Former Kansas State golfer Kyle Yonke and incoming Wildcat Curtis Yonke won the 21st Kansas Four-Ball Championship on Friday. The duo won on the last hole of the tournament to take the title at the par 72, 6,829-yard Alvamar Country Club.

The Yonke's were able to edge the team of Bobby Knowles and Andrew Storm, current members of the University of Kansas golf team.

In the final round, Knowles and Storm birdied holes No. 14, No. 15 and No. 16 to go One Up heading into the 17th hole. On No. 17, Kyle Yonke hit a 3-wood from 250 yards to land 15 feet from the pin and sunk the eagle putt to even the match going into the final hole.

After all four players missed the green on the par-4 18th hole, Knowles chipped within 15 feet of the hole but missed his putt for birdie. Curtis Yonke’s chip landed a few inches from the hole after hitting the flagstick and he made his birdie putt. Storm left his chip from the fringe six feet short and missed the birdie putt to give the Yonke’s the crown.

With the victory the Yonke’s became the first brother combo to win the event.
