Chamberlin, Smell in Lead at Heart of America

SHAWNEE MISSION, Kan. - Kansas State men's golfers Chase Chamberlin and Kyle Smell are in a two-way tie for first place after finishing stroke play at the Heart of America Four-Ball Wednesday afternoon at Milburn Golf and Country Club.

The duo shot a 7-under par 65 in the first round and 9-under par 63 in round two to sit at 16-under for the tournament. They are tied with the team of Tyler Shelton and Don Walsworth for first place.

Chamberlin and Smell have converted on 17 birdies over the first two rounds of play with only one bogey in the tournament.

The event now moves to match play, with the championship matchup scheduled for Saturday, August 7.

The Heart of America Four-Ball tournament is one of the most prestigious in the Midwest as past participants include Tom Watson, Payne Stewart, Jim Colbert, John Daly and Tom Kite, among several other PGA professionals. Results from each round of match play can be found at
