Former Wildcat Streb Begins FedExCup Playoffs Thursday

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Former Kansas State men’s golfer Robert Streb will play in his first career PGA Tour FedExCup Playoffs beginning with this weekend’s event, The Barclays, Thursday through Sunday, at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J.

Streb, who is ranked No. 84 in the FedExCup rankings, is one of 125 players at this weekend’s tournament. The field for the next three tournaments will be reduced to 100 players for the Deutsche Bank Championship (Aug. 29-Sept. 1), 70 for the BMW Championship (Sept. 4-7), then 30 for the Playoffs finale, the TOUR Championship (Sept. 25-28).

A product of Edmond, Oklahoma, Streb was just one spot shy of competing in last season’s FedExCup Playoffs as he finished 126th. He made sure that wouldn’t happen again in 2014 as he tallied five top-20 finishes, including a career best second-place tie at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April after carding a 17-under par 271. He also tied for 14th at the Puerto Rico Open in March and capped the regular season by tying for 18th at last week’s Wyndham Championship.

Streb, who lettered at K-State from 2006-09, still holds many school records, including top single-season stroke average (71.59 in 2008-09), single-season tournaments played (14 in 2005-06), career tournaments played (52) and career rounds played (152). He also holds the lowest 72-hole round in school history with a 280 at the 2009 Big 12 Championship and ranks second in K-State history in career stroke average (73.75).

Streb will be in the first group off the No. 1 tee Thursday morning during the first round of The Barclays beginning at 7:20 a.m. (CT). Fans can track Streb’s progress and watch live on
