Former Wildcat James Wins Gateway Tour Event

Plano, Texas - Former Wildcat golfer Jonathan James picked up his first professional victory this past week at The Ridgeview Ranch.  The victory, worth $10,000, is his first on The Gateway Tour DFW Series.

James, who finished his collegiate career in 2006 for the Wildcats, posted rounds of 73-69-66 for an 8-under 208, one stroke ahead of Ryan Baca and Ryan Posey, who each carded a 7-under 209.

“I putted really well this week and suppose I feel like I won the tournament with the putter,” said James. “I was just trying to tell myself to stay patient and positive the whole day, but at no point during the round did I have the lead until the last putt. (Posey) is a good buddy of mine, and it was unfortunate the way he finished, because he was leading for pretty much the whole day before making bogeys on the last two holes...I suppose I still feel a bit stunned in that regard, but it’s starting to sink in and it feels great.”
