Wildcats Kick Off 2010-11 Season in Indiana

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State men's golf team will open its 2010-11 campaign by traveling to Zionsville, Ind., to compete in the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, Saturday, September 11, through Sunday, September 12. The tournament will begin with 36 holes on Saturday, followed by 18 holes on Sunday. Teams will tee off with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m, on Saturday, with Sunday’s final-round tee times off No. 1 and No. 10 between 8:30-10:30 a.m.

LOOK AT THE FIELD: The 15-team field includes No. 18 ranked Illinois, No. 27 North Florida, Ball State, Central Florida, Indiana, Iowa State, IUPUI, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Missouri, Northwestern, Penn State and Tulsa.

LAST TIME OUT: The K-State golf team wrapped up its 2009-10 season by finishing in fifth place at the 2010 Big 12 Championship. The Wildcats recorded an 11-over par, 1,163 for the tournament.

2009 Wolf Run Intercollegiate: The Wilcats also opened last year’s season at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, shooting a 54-hole score of 33-over par 885, which was good for ninth place.

Former Wildcats Mitchell Gregson and Joe Kinney finished the torunament tied for fifth among individuals, each carding a 2-under par of 211.

HOST – Wolf Run Golf Club: Indiana University will host the 15-team field at the par 71, 7,195-yard Wolf Run Golf Club. Wolf Run is currently ranked as the 20th best course in Golfweek’s America’s 100 Best Modern Courses.
