Wildcats Return to Action at Jack Nicklaus Invitational

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State men's golf team will travel east to compete in its second event of the fall, the Jack Nicklaus Invitational, Sunday and Monday, Sept. 28-29, at the par-71, 7,455-yard Ohio State University Golf Club - Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. The invitational will begin with a shotgun start for 36 holes at 8:45 a.m. (ET) on Sunday followed by 18 holes on Monday starting at 8 a.m. (ET).

Coming off an eighth-place finish at the season-opening Saint Mary's Invitational, the Wildcats are eager to get back to action.

"We are looking forward to competing at Ohio State," said head coach Grant Robbins. "The Scarlet Course is very difficult, so it is going to be important that we stay patient and try to get the most out of each round."

The same five players from the Saint Mary's Invitational will make up scoring lineup for the Wildcats in Columbus as K-State will send Matt Green, Seth Smith, Connor Knabe, Trent Evans and Hank Simpson. Green tied for 17th place at 1-over par 219 two weeks ago, while Smith and Simpson tied for 22nd in the event by carding a 7-over par 3-over par 221.

"I have been very pleased with the work the guys have put in this week as we strive to continually improve," said Robbins.

Kansas State will be one of 12 teams competing in the tournament, including East Tennessee State, Georgia Regents (formerly Augusta State), Kent State, Miami (OH), Middle Tennessee State, Northern Illinois, Ohio State, Pepperdine, Purdue, Troy and Tulsa.
