MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State men's golf team looks to defend its home turf as the Wildcats are set to host the 2013 Jim Colbert Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday, at the par-72, 7,525-yard Colbert Hills Golf Course.

Last year, K-State used its home-course advantage to capture the team title as the Wildcats finished atop the leaderboard at 37-over 901, besting second-place finisher Idaho by 11 strokes.

Although K-State's scoring lineup was not available at the time of this release, head coach Tim Norris is hopeful that his golfers can build on the momentum that they picked up in the final round of last week's St. Mary's Invitational.

"We are coming off a great round to finish in California and should be able to keep the confidence going here at Colbert Hills," said Norris. "The course is in great shape, and it is always a source of pride to show off our course to other teams, with schools from Texas and Arizona making the trip this year."

Playing at home will give Norris some extra time in filling out his lineup card for the tournament.

"It has been very competitive for the last few spots on the top-5 scoring team," Norris continued. "With a home event, we have the luxury of practicing until Sunday afternoon to make that determination."

In addition to the Wildcats, this year's event field will include Central Oklahoma, Creighton, Drake, Grand Canyon, Nebraska Omaha, Sam Houston State, Southern Illinois and South Dakota.
