Cats Look to Continue Success at NMSU

MANHATTAN, Kan.  The Kansas State men’s golf team looks to place in the top five for the fifth consecutive tournament as the Wildcats compete in the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, Monday, October 27, and Tuesday, October 28. The event will tee off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (PT) on Monday for the first 36 holes. The third and final round will also be a shotgun start Tuesday at 8 a.m. (PT).

 

LOOK AT THE FIELD:  The field contains 18 teams from across the country including Big 12 foes, Colorado and Iowa State. The entire 18-team field includes: Air Force, Akron, Ball State, Cal-Poly, Colorado, Denver, Idaho, Iowa State, Kansas State, Miami (Ohio), Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Utah, UTEP, Washington State & Weber State.

LAST TIME OUT:  The Wildcats finished second at the Santa Clara Invitational. Kansas State, who placed four of its five team competitors in the top 10, carded a team score of 3-over 287 in the final round to finish with a 54-hole score of 6-over 858. With the second-place finish, K-State picked up its fourth top-10 finish in as many tries and has placed either first or second in three of the first four tournaments.

2007 HERB WIMBERLY INTERCOLLEGIATE: The Wildcats tied for third place with the University of Nevada. Then sophomore Joe Ida placed second overall with a 2-under par 204.

 

EARLY SUCCESS:  Kansas State junior men’s golfer Mitchell Gregson tied the Silver Valley Creek Country Club 54-hole score and carded the second-lowest round in school history en route to his second individual championship of the season.

 

HOST NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY GOLF COURSE:  New Mexico State will host the 18 teams at the New Mexico State University Golf Course. New Mexico State University Golf Course the 18-hole layout covers 7,040 yards and is a par 72 course
