Streb Captures First PGA Tour Victory

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Former Kansas State men's golfer Robert Streb won a three-man playoff with a four-foot birdie putt on the second hole to record his first career PGA Tour victory at The McGladrey Classic at Seaside Course in Sea Island, Georgia, on Sunday.

The victory qualified him for the Masters in April, which will be his first career major.

Streb finished the 72-hole event at 14-under par 266, which included a career-best round of 7-under par 63 on Sunday. The Chickasha, Oklahoma, native closed out the back nine with four birdies and a par to force a three-man playoff with Brendon de Jonge and Will MacKenzie.

Streb and de Jonge each parred the par-4 18th hole as MacKenzie bogeyed and was eliminated. On the par-3 17th, Streb put his tee shot within four feet of the hole while de Jonge landed 25 feet away. De Jonge could not convert on his birdie attempt before Streb sunk his four-footer to claim the victory.

A K-State letterwinner from 2006-09, Streb began the day five shots back of the lead as he became the third player in the past four years to come from five or more shots back for the win.

After finishing 84th in the FedExCup Rankings in 2014, Streb leads the standings with 600 points thanks to Sunday's win and a tie for 10th at last week's Shiners Hospitals for Children Open.

Streb will be featured on "Inside the PGA TOUR" Tuesday evening on Golf Channel. Check local listings for air time in your area.
