Wildcat Golfers Close Fall Season at Pacific Invite

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State men’s golf team tees off in its final event of the fall schedule with the Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif., on Monday. The three-day tournament hosted by the University of Pacific at Brookside Country Club is the last of six competitions for the Wildcats this fall.

K-State faces a 14-team field, including the No. 1-ranked Charlotte 49ers. The Wildcats have shown steady improvement this fall and turned in some of their best rounds this year while finishing tied for third at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate. K-State also tallied its second-consecutive third-round improvement last week, while working to stay on top of the leaderboard.

Individually, the Wildcats have seen a number of players turn in impressive rounds but the most consistent competitors have been Joe Ida and Mitchell Gregson. Ida finished second at the Wimberly Intercollegiate last week and the Wildcats have used Gregson’s score towards the team score in every round of the fall.

The sophomore duo is joined by junior Robert Streb, freshman Kyle Smell and redshirt freshman Ross Guebelle. Streb and Smell have played every tournament this fall while Guebelle will make his third overall appearance and second as part of the K-State scoring lineup.

The Pacific Invitational is a three-round, 56-hole tournament and competition beginning each day at 8 a.m. (PT) with tee times on the 1st and 10th holes. Each team will take five players and the lowest four scores will count towards the team total. Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com and more tournament information is available at www.pacificinvitational.com.
