Two Former Wildcats Closer to PGA Tour Cards

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Two former Kansas State golfers, Robert Streb and Joe Kinney, have advanced to the second round of qualifying in the PGA Tour Q School in pursuit of earning PGA tour cards following first-round action last week.

Streb finished the first round of qualifying at the Lantana Golf Course in Lantana, Texas, with a 72-hole score of 7-under par 281 to finish in a tie for fourth. Streb was a letterwinner at K-State from 2006-2009 where he earned 12 career top-five finishes.

Kinney put together a strong performance in his first round of qualifying at the Pinewild Country Club in Pinehurst, N.C. He advanced to the second round by finishing in a tie for 10th with a 72-hole score of 2-under par 286. Kinney also lettered at K-State from 2006-2009.

Streb and Kinney will both look to advance in their quest for PGA Tour cards at the TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, which will be held Nov. 15-18.

Two other former Wildcats, Joe Ida and Mitchell Gregson, also competed in the first round of the PGA Tour Q School.

Ida competed with Streb at the Lantana, Texas, location and finished in a tie for 33rd with a 1-over par 289. Ida missed out on advancing to the second round by only two strokes.

Gregson participated in the Oak Valley Golf Club section in Beaumont, Calif., where he finished in 61st with a 9-over par 297.
