Former Wildcat Watkins Advances to Q-School Finals

MARICOPA, Ariz. - Former Kansas State men's golfer Aaron Watkins is now one step away from becoming fully exempt for the 2007 PGA Tour as he tied for 15th during the second stage of tour qualifying at the par 72, 7,494-yard Southern Dunes G.C., Nov. 15-18.

Watkins carded a 72-hole score of 11-under par 277. He finished just six shots away from Garth Mulroy, who won the Maricopa field at 17-under 271.

The final stage of Q-School will be held at the PGA West - TPC Stadium Course in La Quinta, Calif. The six-round, 108-hole event will take place Nov. 29-Dec. 4. The top 30 players including ties at the final event become fully exempt on the PGA Tour for 2007.
