AMES, Iowa – Tasha Dickey led Kansas State with 11 points, but Iowa State broke open a close contest with a strong second half to surge past the Wildcats, 57-33, Wednesday night at Hilton Coliseum.

With the loss, K-State fell to 18-11 overall and 9-8 in Big 12 play, while Iowa State improved to 18-10 and 9-8.

Trailing 21-17 at the half, K-State looked to cut into the four-point deficit, but Iowa State took the early advantage in the second stanza with a 14-4 run to go up 35-21 and maintained its double-digit lead for the rest of the game.

K-State shot just 28.9 percent from the floor in the contest, which included going 3-of-15 from three-point range, while also committing 20 turnovers and going to the free throw line just five times. Iowa State connected on 39.1 percent of its field goals, including 8-of-22 three-pointers, and went 13-of-15 from the free throw line.

K-State was paced in the first half by hot shooting from Dickey. The senior guard recorded 11 first-half points and staked the Wildcats to a 15-14 lead with five straight points with under five minutes to play. The Cyclones captured the halftime lead as Hallie Christofferson scored four of Iowa State’s final six points in the opening frame.

Jalana Childs added 10 points for the Wildcats as Dickey and Childs led the squad in scoring. Three Cyclones scored in double figures as Nikki Moodi (15), Lauren Mansfield (13) and Christofferson (14) paced Iowa State.

Kansas State returns to Manhattan Saturday to honor its five seniors on Senior Night. The contest against Texas Tech is set for 6 p.m. at Bramlage Coliseum.
