Kansas State Head Coach and Player Quotes
Kansas State Head Coach Deb Patterson
Opening Statement...
"I feel good about getting a victory over a team that we really struggled with a year ago. They did another great job tonight mixing their looks. It was a great experience for our basketball team. We saw a lot of things that I think we can learn on film and put our players in position to learn from. To me, this was not necessarily a beautiful game on the offensive end for us. But I think that it is a great team to have to line up against and see how we might need to make some adjustments during the course of the game. We saw a lot of different looks that I think will be helpful for us."

On replacing the starters early in the game...
"I hope to go into the game playing deeper into our roster than we did tonight. I hope to play everybody, I hope to do that most games. But the nature of the prior game, I just feel that I did not want to mess with that rhythm because it was working pretty well. Tonight I think that we really established a rhythm for many plays and I think that is something that we will work on throughout the course of the season. But it was just to try to get us to be more aggressive and to loosen us up a little bit and I thought that second-five would be able to come in and do that."

On the depth of this year's team...
"It is really nice to be able to look at the bench because I feel like there are some situations where I am actually making a decision as to whether to I want this one or do I want that one and that is very rare compared to a year ago. I like that our bench works extremely hard day-in and day-out and I know that in order for us to be successful for us this year, everyone on this roster is going to have to contribute at certain points in time."

On tonight's struggle from beyond the arc...
"I think on nights like tonight, when our three-pointers are not dropping, so much of that is the fact that we were so disjointed offensively with no rhythm and then we got captivated by standing around outside and we really did not get a lot of touches inside, so by in large my greatest frustration was about not establishing a low-post game. Also, we did not get to the rim enough and obviously you have to give credit to Indiana State because they are a young team that plays hard and smart. They give you a lot of different looks. We might be more athletically gifted than they are but they really made that game difficult for us tonight. We need to learn that we cannot live and die by the three-pointer, even though I like it, I thought we relayed on that too much tonight. But to me a lot of the misses were because we did not establish a rhythm."

On the struggles of Jalana Childs play...
"It was just a tough night for her. We played very confused in the first half and we were very disjointed. She was prone to stepping up and stepping off, whether that is play-calling or just us conceding to the trap. I will have to look at the film to see exactly what the problem was; it was huge because obviously you have got to be able to rely on someone down on the block."

Junior forward Branshea Brown
On her progress from last season...
"I am just slowing down and concentrating more this year. I know what I have to do it in order to make my team better. I just need to get it done and do what I have got to do. I try not to do too much and I try not to rush things which I still need to work on. I know that I need to be more consistent and get the smaller things done and when I do that I know everything else will come with it."

On her physical play inside...
"I like to bang around on the inside, I just need to learn how to control it a little better. I need to keep learning how to not get overly aggressive."

Sophomore guard Taelor Karr
On the offensive struggles during tonight's game...
"There were a couple of us that were struggling but we are not going to focus on that, we just want to get into the gym and put shots up and hope that they go in. Different people have been stepping up and Branshea (Brown) has been doing a real good job of that. She is quiet but she has always been that steady presence for us. She does a lot of the little things right. Her stat line is not outrageous but she is always there and is always doing something big for us like getting that steal. A lot of people have been stepping up, Mariah (White) has been having big games for us and we know that we just have to keep working on our defense because our offense has been struggling."

On having more offensive balance...
"We have a lot more of a physical presence inside than we did last year. Last year our main focus was on the perimeter, trying to get three-pointers to go in and if they did not than we were in for a long night but this year we know that we need to throw it inside more and if we do that we will get kick-outs more often and that is when the three's will start falling for us."

Indiana State Head Coach Quotes
Head Coach Teri Moren
Opening Statement...
"We are disappointed in the outcome. We felt like at halftime we were hanging in there. I think both teams came out flat; there was not a lot of energy in the building. I am sure coach (Deb Patterson) felt the same way. None the less, I thought we hung in there in the first half but we just had no answer for (Brittany) Chambers. I thought we did a great job on their posts by doubling down low. I think what happened to us tonight was that we did not have enough scoring power. Brittany (Shoen) had 12 and Taylor (Whitley) had 12 as well but there was no scoring from our post players and none from the bench. We are dealing with a very young basketball team and we will have to figure out how to be more balanced in our scoring and find a way to win on the road."

On the scoring droughts...
"The entire game I felt we were out of sync offensively. We did not have a lot of movement. Some of the scores we did have were off of broken plays, which is good. I never felt comfortable with our offensive play. Kudos goes out to K-State for getting out in the passing lanes and making it difficult. They are extremely big inside so they were able to body our post players. So, got to get credit to K-State for getting us on our heels tonight."

On the defensive performance...
"I have said on countless times that if you defend you will give yourself a chance to win a lot of ballgames. They out-rebounded us 42-29 so you will not win very many ballgames if you rebound like that."
