Razorbacks Rally to Clip 'Cats

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Kansas State Wildcats held a 12-point lead midway through the second half on the road against Arkansas but stumbled down the stretch to lose by two points to the Lady Razorbacks. K-State (2-4) was outscored 22-8 in the final 10 minutes of the game to lose 60-58 to Arkansas (5-1).

K-State had four players score in double digits on the night and only played six with four starters playing all 40 minutes of the game. Ashley Sweat led all scorers with 18 points and also pulled down 10 rebounds for a double-double. She was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line as well.

Freshman Brittany Chambers scored 15 points making half of her shots including 3-of-6 from long range. Kari Kincaid posted 12 points and Jalana Childs scored 10.

The Wildcats shot 50 percent from the field as a team and out-rebounded the Razorbacks 33-24 but could not hold off the late charge by Arkansas.

Arkansas went on a 13-2 run immediately after K-State extended its largest lead of the night to 12 points with a layup by Taelor Karr to pull within one point with 5:29 remaining in the contest. From there K-State would build the lead back to three points only to see Arkansas chip away and outscore the Wildcats 5-0 in the final 1:12 to get the win for the Razorbacks.

The Razorbacks were led by C'eira Ricketts with 16 points, five rebounds and six assists. Charity Ford and Dominique Robinson each posted 10 points for Arkansas in the win.

K-State returns home to host the Commerce Bank Wildcat Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Wildcats will take on Grambling at 6 p.m. Friday at Bramlage Coliseum with Missouri State and UTEP playing at 4 p.m. Action on Saturday begins at 1 p.m. for the consolation game and the championship being played at 3 p.m. The Wildcats' games can be heard on the K-State Sports Network with Brian Smoller calling the action.
