K-State's Karr Earns Big 12 Honor

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State freshman guard Taelor Karr garnered co-Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors on Monday for her performance during K-State's two road contests last week. Karr is the second Wildcat to earn the league's freshman of the week honor this season.

Karr continued her hot shooting during the last five games and helped K-State to a 1-1 week on the road. The product of Paola, Kan., averaged 14.5 points on a .556 field goal percentage (10-of-18), including a .636 three-point percentage (7-of-11). Karr also added averages of 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 34.5 minutes of action. Sharing the weekly honor with Karr was Baylor's Brittany Griner.

At Missouri on Jan. 13, Karr tallied 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting and also registered five rebounds and three steals in 37 minutes of action during K-State's 65-50 win.

At Oklahoma State on Saturday, Karr notched 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the three-point line. She also carded four boards, an assist and a steal.

For the season, Karr is averaging 8.8 points per contest and ranks third in the league in 3-point field goal percentage (.462). During the last seven games, Karr is 21-of-35 (.600) from the 3-point line.

Earlier this season, Karr's fellow freshman Brittany Chambers was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week on Dec. 7. This is the first time since the 2005-06 season that K-State has garnered multiple Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors. In the history of the conference, K-State has earned 17 freshman of the week honors.
