K-State to Host Women's Basketball Reunion

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State Athletic Department announced on Tuesday a women's basketball alumni reunion during the weekend of Feb. 20-21, in conjunction with K-State's game against Oklahoma. This will be the first women's basketball reunion since the 1996 season.

The weekend will begin with a reception on Saturday evening, which will include a watch party of the K-State men's basketball game at Oklahoma that evening. On Sunday, the day begins with facility tours followed by a pre-game luncheon. The weekend concludes with the Wildcats taking on the Sooners at 2 p.m., and halftime recognition of all the women's basketball alumni in attendance on the Bramlage Coliseum floor. Women's basketball alumni members will receive up to six complementary tickets to the Feb. 21 contest.

"Since my arrival in Manhattan, I have been tremendously impressed with the passion of the extended K-State family," Currie said. "Our former athletes form the core of that family, and I look forward to welcoming them back to campus for an exciting weekend and meeting as many of them as possible. Our women's basketball program has a proud and storied tradition and these former student-athletes have been an integral part of its growth and continued success."

The contest on Feb. 21 against Oklahoma will also mark K-State's participation in the WBCA "Pink Zone" national initiative. This will be K-State's third season of participation in the national program to benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. Last season, K-State was able to raise $15,418, including a staggering $12,035 through an online auction for the game-worn pink uniforms.

"We are excited to welcome and honor our great Wildcat alumni the weekend of our Pink Zone game vs. Oklahoma," stated K-State head coach Deb Patterson. "This weekend is a special opportunity for us to recognize the national caliber successes and personal achievements of our past players and teams. It is an honor for our players, coaches, fans and administration to have a chance to connect with the hearts and minds of all those who contributed to the great tradition of K-State women's basketball."
