2011 Deb Patterson Basketball Camp Series

MANHATTAN, Kan. –
Kansas State women’s basketball and head coach Deb Patterson will host three camps this summer for a variety of age groups and experience levels. The camps will be offered during a three-week stretch in the month of June and will feature current and former Wildcat players among the camps’ counselors while also receiving instruction and guidance from the K-State women’s basketball coaching staff.

The first camp of the summer is the Team Camp on June 3-5. It is open to any and all high school varsity, JV, sophomore and freshman teams as well as any summer club teams. This is an opportunity for these teams to continue to play together over the summer months and face competition that may be different from what they might see during their regular season. The past two summers, teams from Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, and Illinois have taken part in the camp. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt upon arrival.

The cost for the Team Camp is $185 for a resident and $130 for a commuter. One coach per team receives free admission and complimentary room and board for resident camping teams. Additional coaches will cost $75 for resident or $30 for a commuter. The registration deadline for the K-State Team Camp is May 20.

The second camp will be the Elite Camp on June 15-17. This has grown into one of the top camps in the country. Players will be pushed competitively by other elite players and will receive instruction on how to sharpen the skills that will make them a better basketball player. This camp is for high school players only.

The price of the Elite Camp is $210 for a resident and $185 for a commuter. For both options, a non-refundable deposit of $50 is required at registration. The deadline to register for the Elite Camp is June 2. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt and a K-State basketball.

The final camp of the summer will be the Overnight Camp on June 19-22. This camp is for kids ages 8-15 and is a great camp for elementary, middle school and freshmen girls who have a desire to grow as basketball players and learn more about the game. The camp also provides a number of activities off the court including pizza in Bramlage Coliseum, skit performances and a night of swimming. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt and a K-State basketball.

The cost of the Overnight Camp is $330 for a resident and $290 for a commuter. For both options, a non-refundable deposit of $50 is required at registration. The deadline to register for the Overnight Camp is June 7.

Kansas State women’s basketball concluded its 43rd season of action during the 2010-11 season with the program’s 12th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats’ appearance in the NCAA Tournament was the ninth visit to a postseason tournament in the last 10 seasons. K-State improved its overall win total from the 2009-10 season by seven victories and improved upon its number of league wins by five (21-11, 10-6 Big 12).

The Wildcats recorded the 22nd 20-win season in school history and the eighth under head coach Deb Patterson’s guidance, while tying for third in the Big 12 standings after being tabbed for a ninth-place finish by the league’s coaches in the preseason poll. During the season, K-State became the 13th team in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history to reach the 800-win mark with a 69-64 win at Nebraska on Feb. 19, while Patterson tallied the 300th win of her career with a 56-53 win over Iowa State in the quarterfinals of the 2011 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championships.
