Head coach Deb Patterson returns to the sidelines for her 16th season in Bramlage Coliseum. The Wildcats return eight letterwinners and three starters from the 12th NCAA Tournament squad in school history, including All-Big 12 selections Brittany Chambers and Jalana Childs. The Wildcats registered an overall record of 21-11 and a 10-6 mark in Big 12 action which resulted in a tie for third finish in the league. During the 2010-11 season, K-State became the 13th program in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history to reach the 800-win plateau.

Kansas State finished the 2010-11 season ranked 24th in the nation in average attendance with 4,068 per game coming through the turnstiles. It is the third straight season and the eighth time in the last 10 seasons that K-State has finished among the top-25 in average attendance.

The Wildcats also were one of 33 winners in the NCAA Division I “Pack the House” Challenge, as 9,024 fans witnessed K-State’s 63-45 win over Oklahoma State on Jan. 9. This was a season-high for attendance in Bramlage Coliseum last season and improved K-State’s record to 40-9 (.816) in the Deb Patterson era when the single-game home attendance is 7,500 fans or higher.

“We are extremely appreciative and proud of our great fans here at Kansas State,” said Patterson about one of the strongest women’s basketball fan bases in the Big 12. “With their support last season, we were able to achieve great things on the floor and showed the nation that K-State is an outstanding place for women’s basketball. The energy and emotion from the ‘Pack the House’ event in the Big 12 opener helped us get started on the right foot in league play and we would love to see that same energy and passion throughout the 2011-12 season in Bramlage Coliseum.”

The Wildcats will open the 2011-12 season with a three-game home stand beginning on Saturday, Nov. 12 against Dartmouth. The season-opener will be the first of two contests this season that will be part of a “Wildcat Weekend,” as the K-State football team will host Texas A&M at Bill Snyder Family Stadium on the same day.

The 2011-12 Big 12 schedule, complete game times as well as the television schedule will be released at a later date. The league will move to a new 18-game, round-robin format that is expected to start in early January.
