MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State head women’s basketball coach Deb Patterson announced on Friday the addition of former All-Big 12 recipient Claire Coggins to her coaching staff. Coggins will serve as the team’s director of video operations after serving three seasons as an assistant coach at Oklahoma City University and Connors State.

“Claire has worked hard to build a strong foundation of quality basketball experience since graduating from our program in 2007,” said Patterson about the addition of Coggins. “She has competed at the highest level in the WNBA and most recently helped lead NAIA power Oklahoma City University to a national championship. We are excited to have our former Wildcat contributing again to our program.”

In her only season with Oklahoma City in 2011-12, Coggins aided head coach Rob Edmisson in guiding the Stars to a 35-1 record and the sixth NAIA Division I title in the program’s history.

At Connors State, Coggins helped the Cowgirls to a 27-5 record in 2010-11. The Cowgirls captured the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference title and an appearance in the NJCAA Region II championship game.

Coggins helped develop three 2011 All-NJCAA Region II performers in Sierra Cornwell, Katie Fleming and Shakayla Love. Coggins also coached Magen Roth, a 2010 NJCAA All-American, as a first-year assistant at Connors State.

During her playing career at K-State, she was a two-time All-Big 12 second team selection, the most valuable player of the 2006 Postseason WNIT and was a member of the 2004 Big 12 regular season championship team. Coggins finished her career with 1,236 points, the 32nd Wildcat to pass the 1,000-point mark, and currently ranks 19th on the K-State career points list. She also tallied 213 assists and ranks 22nd in the program’s history.

After her time in Manhattan, Coggins spent the 2007 season with the WNBA's Chicago Sky and then played the 2008 season with Panathanaikos in Athens, Greece.

Coggins, a native of Independence, Mo., earned her degree in electronic journalism from K-State in 2007.
