Cats to Make Seven Television Appearances

MANHATTAN, Kan. The defending Big 12 regular season women’s basketball champion Kansas State Wildcats will make seven television appearances during the upcoming 2008-09 season.


K-State will make all seven appearances on either FSN or FSN Kansas City. Between Jan. 24 and Feb. 15, the Wildcats will appear on television for five of their six contests. K-State will make their national debut on FSN, Jan. 24 at Kansas with an 11 a.m. tip-off. The Wildcats will follow that appearance with a home contest against Nebraska on Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. on FSN Kansas City.


Kansas State will return to the airwaves of FSN Kansas City on Feb. 4 against Missouri. The Wildcats will face Baylor during a national FSN telecast on Feb. 7 at 11 a.m., and follow that contest with an FSN Kansas City appearance on Feb. 15 against Oklahoma State at 1 p.m.


The Wildcats will conclude the home portion of their 2008-09 schedule with consecutive televised contests, as K-State hosts Texas A&M at 12 p.m. on March 1 on FSN and Texas on March 4 on FSN Kansas City at 7 p.m.


The Wildcats are 39-30 all-time on FSN, including a 6-2 mark on the network last season. K-State is 64-42 all-time in televised contests and since the start of the 2002-03 season, the Wildcats will have appeared on television at least 83 times.


Head coach Deb Patterson returns four starters and eight letterwinners, including All-Big 12 first team selection Shalee Lehning and All-Big 12 second team choice Marlies Gipson, from the 2008 Big 12 regular season champions and NCAA Tournament second round participants.


Additional televised contests could be added to the schedule, pending the decisions of other FSN regional networks within the Big 12.
