MANHATTAN, Kan. - When the Kansas State women's basketball team takes the floor on Nov. 4 for its first exhibition game of the 2010-11 season, the Wildcats will do so in new Nike uniforms. K-State will have the option of four uniform sets this season, including a pink uniform for the annual Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (WBCA) "Pink Zone" initiative.

"I am excited for our Kansas State women's basketball program to be selected by Nike to be one of 15 uniform designs," said head coach Deb Patterson. "Nike chose us two years ago and began building and designing this brand new K-State uniform. We are the only team that will wear this design this season. In the future, high schools, AAU programs and college teams can all choose to wear this design."

The four uniform sets for K-State this season include a home white, a road purple, an alternate black and a pink uniform. The white, purple and black uniform templates were created specifically for K-State by Nike and feature a lightweight performance game jersey.

"Our players love the lightweight design and the great look," Patterson mentioned. "We will be one of only a handful of schools sporting four different colors of uniforms, but they will all have one thing in common - the color purple."

The home white uniforms feature purple and black stripes on the jersey tops and the shorts. The "K-State" wordmark, last names of the student-athletes and the numbers are purple and outlined in silver. On the v-collar of the jersey includes a black stripe.

The road purple uniforms feature white and black stripes on the jersey tops and shorts. The v-collar on the jersey tops includes a black stripe. The "K-State" wordmark, last names of the student-athletes and the numbers are white and outlined in silver.

For the first time since the 2001-02 season, K-State will have a black alternate uniform as an option. The uniforms have a similar design to the white and purple sets, with white and purple stripes down the jersey tops and shorts. The jersey includes a purple stripe on the collar. The "K-State" wordmark, last names of the student-athletes and the numbers are white and are outlined in silver.

In accordance with a new branding initiative by the NCAA, all three uniforms will feature a small NCAA basketball logo patch on the left shoulder of the jersey and on the right leg of the shorts.

For the third straight season, K-State will don pink uniforms for the annual WBCA "Pink Zone" initiative. This season, K-State will wear the pink uniforms in Manhattan on Saturday, Feb. 26 against Iowa State at 7 p.m.

The pink uniforms feature a similar design to its two predecessors, with the "K-State" wordmark and the numbers in purple. The shorts feature two thick white stripes on the side of each leg and a thinner purple stripe in the middle of both white stripes.

Wearing the K-State uniforms this season for Patterson will be eight returning letterwinners, including three starters - junior Jalana Childs and sophomores Brittany Chambers and Taelor Karr. The Wildcats also welcome three freshmen (Chantay Caron, Brianna Kulas and Stephanie Wittman) and two juniors (JuliAnne Chisholm and Emma Ostermann) to the roster.

K-State will open the 2010-11 regular season on Friday, Nov. 12 against Grambling State at 12 p.m. This will be the first game of the 16th annual Commerce Bank Wildcat Classic. The second contest on Friday will feature Marist and St. John's at 2 p.m.
