Ohlde Named Big 12 Player Of The Week

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Junior Nicole Ohlde was honored as the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week Monday, the second time in her career she has received the honor.

Ohlde averaged 20.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 steals in two games last week while being named Co-MVP of the Stanford Tournament.

The 6-foot-4 junior center tallied a season-high 28 points in a win over Temple. She also had a game-high 15 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals. It was her 22nd career double-double and her fourth of the season. It was also the 25th time in her career she has had 20 or more points in a game.

Against Stanford, Ohlde had 13 points, four assists, two blocks and a steal.

The Clay Center, Kan., native also moved into 11th on Kansas State's career scoring chart with 1,189 points. She is second on the team offensively, averaging 19.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.73 assist-to-turnover ratio, 2.0 blocks and 1.1 steals against six teams, including four who are either ranked or receiving votes.

This was Kansas State's second consecutive Big 12 Player of the Week honor as Kendra Wecker was last week's honoreee.

It is just the sixth time a Kansas State player has been named Big 12 Player of the Week since the conference's inception in 1996-97. Wecker (2002), Ohlde (2002-01), Nicky Ramage (1999), Angie Finkes (1998) and Andria Jones (1997) were K-State's other honorees.

Kansas State is 5-1 and looks to remain undefeated at home when it plays Arkansas-Pine Bluff tonight at 7 p.m. in Bramlage Coliseum.
